As a company grows, they need to continually look for stellar talent. And as larger companies consolidate to save money, stellar talent are lost, some forever, others into the ether. But where do they actually go?
I keep seeing posts on social media about folks entirely leaving the industry as consolidation has pushed them out. I’ve had a few leave here too, but I have somehow managed to lure some of them back (or keep them around).
I’ve written about this countless times, as more experienced talent leave to retire, or try their hand at something new, younger people don’t seem to be nearly as excited about the industry anymore. Could it be because there are so many other “media” and entertainment options these days? I personally can’t be bothered with TikTok (does it even exist anymore?), reels, snapchat, etc. I get the appeal, but let’s be real, there is NOTHING like radio!
That pit in your stomach (some call it butterflies), when you crack the mic for the first time at your first (or second, or tenth) gig? I do, and it still happens when I get to go live!
