Do You Hate Your Job?
Interesting chat at my freelance gig the other day.
When I said out loud, “everyone here complains all the time, I love working here”, I was called a “brown-noser”. Errrm, nope. Not a brown-noser, not even remotely. Professional, respectful, loyal and of the utmost importance, I have to love where I am at or I’m out.
Do you ever notice that some people complain non-stop? Others complain here and there, bounce their feelings off others and perk back up. To be expected.
I get that some people take on jobs they don’t like, maybe they don’t even know what they want to do with their lives, and before they know it, a decade has passed. Or maybe they’re fearful of looking for a new gig.
The place where I freelance is major. You are not hired without a writing test, professional reference check, social media combing, etc. So why go to all of that trouble and come to work and complain?
One person I work with yells incessantly, “there’s no news!” And if someone calls in sick, OY. And by the way, ya, there’s, news, there always is. If there’s one thing you can count on, there is news today. Especially now, there is news today and everyday. There is an enormous amount of news every single day. And if you’re that stressed, pray tell, why are you working in a breaking news environment?
Don’t call me a brown-noser because I come to work with a smile on my face and a good attitude. I’m also apparently too sunshiney and perky. What’s that about? Should I walk in, frown, complain, and generally be a bitch? #Nope
