Years ago while I was in a department store, chasing my then toddler from underneath the turnstiles, someone said, “I know your voice”. Uh-oh.
A quagmire.
Embarrassing, but flattering. I know you and you don’t really KNOW me. I’m also now THAT mom.
It was the only time that happened until yesterday, nearly two decades later. At the doctor’s office. “Lesley Lotto!” “Yes, that’s me”. “Hey, why aren’t you on 105.3 anymore?” During an otherwise kind of crappy, stressful, depressing week, a thankful moment. You know me. But you don’t really know me. I’m not here for any sort of dire consequence, just your yearly routine, annoying visit. So we chatted it up.
What do you do when you’re recognized? Voice or face? I love people, so it was enjoyable. But what if you’re the shy type? What if you don’t want to be confronted in public? Thoughts?
