Remote News Service introduces “Smart News”… because if you keep reading and listening or watching the same news over and over again, it can adversely affect your mental health. Studies show the practice can trigger more anxiety and stress, and lord knows we don’t need that.
Each week we’ve been sending radio stations so-called evergreen stories, and we are continuing that, with a bend towards stories that won’t negatively affect your cognitive function (or mood). In fact, these are topics you may not have heard before and they lean way more positive. 🙌🏼
Studies show being consistently exposed to the same stories over and over again can cause humans to be in a “constant state of high alert”, and that can lead to irritability and feelings of hopelessness.
So, get some good news in your brain and move your body (which could just mean stand up, walk to the water fountain, break room, or rest room). You may even want to read or listen to the news and multi-task it, by exercising at the same time (like on a treadmill or stepper). And that may enhance instead of help to diminish your cognitive function.
Remember – everything in moderation. Excessive news watching, especially with sensational or scandalous content, could contribute to a decline in mental sharpness. Let’s stay engaged! 🧐
